The Elevator Pitch

(She took the stairs)

Mona Abdel-Fadil has spent her career doing things that don't fit neatly into one box — and smashing the box anyway. Trained improviser. Political satirist. Social anthropologist specialising in racism, ethnocentrism, religion, media, politics, gender, MENA, WENA and — crucially — humour itself. Published writer. Diversity counsellor and trainer. Curator. Public speaker.

That is a lot of context. She has since pivoted to a lot of subtext. These are the credentials that got her there:

Impro Training

Five weeks at iO Theatre Chicago. Nine days with Keith Johnstone. A lifetime in Egypt. Mona's impro training spans three continents, some of the most respected names in the field, and one nickname she is extremely proud of.

Comedy, Research & Writing

Mona has been writing and performing skits since she was tiny. And, she's been making academics laugh since before she was one. Making it a career — specifically, a comedy career — is the plot twist. A well-researched and completely inevitable plot twist.
